Steve E12. Décembre, 2024. You can’t judge a book by its’ cover! We moved to Bordeaux 4 months ago and live 200 meters from this museum. We’ve walked by it dozens of times and thought the entrance was so unappealing that it wouldn’t be worth going in. We were wrong! This museum is a simple, straightforward and realistic representation of the history of Bordeaux and how intertwined wine is with the history of the city. We spent about an hour walking through the museum part of the experience, and about an hour for the wine tasting. I lived in San Francisco for 5 years and spent half my weekends in Napa Valley and Sonoma. I’ve seen my fair share of wineries and done too many wine tastings. This place is really different. Every step of the museum is well documented and contains an extraordinary amount of detail and artifacts that bring the history to life. The wine tasting wasn’t hurried at all. The young man that conducted our tasting (Edward) did an outstanding job of explaining the various differences of the wine producing regions around Bordeaux, and took as many questions as we offered. We are learning French, but he was perfectly capable of doing the tasting in English. We would definitely recommend this museum! ww17. Octobre, 2024. Nice authentic wine cave and museum Enjoyed our visit to the wine museum. Very helpful young man explained the necessary information to us before we explored the museum and cave. At the end we had a wine tasting talk and lesson from the lovely lady called Luna, she did an amazing presentation in English. A very nice visit using our city pass Jeremy S11. Octobre, 2024. Great wine and culture tour Took a great tour out the wine country of Bordeaux and learned a lot about the region along the way! Definitely worth the price of admission. Steve_Grant128. Août, 2024. Ok visit We went here after the main wine museum. It is much smaller and has a different focus. The best part for me was the wine tasting at the end of our visit. The host was informative and had good knowledge. We used the City Card which made the overall costs good. LolaDeVys19. Août, 2024. Dusty displays, perfect location, and interesting story. Seems appropriate for a museum with this great story to be sited in a very dusty and authentic cellar though this is far from good museum practice. Has a great sense of place but the objects on display need some professional attention and display. The museum and interesting talk afterwards were well worth a visit. tripperR6458QY27. Juillet, 2024. Bordeaux Wine Museum I booked my 10€ ticket a couple of days in advance after having visited the Cité du Vin. This museum is situated in a charming street with a few typical bars and restaurants. The staff were super friendly in both English and French and answered all my difficult questions. You need about an hour for the tour and half an hour for the wine tasting. A real pilgrimage for wine lovers. Highly recommended ! NemoTraveler21. Juillet, 2024. A disappointment The museum is located in the Charton area of Bordeaux with good public transportation by tram. The building was earlier used by wine merchants and the history of the area is actually quite interesting. Admission is EUR 10, holders of the Bordeaux City Pass EUR 5, and included is a tasting of two wines. It is a traditional museum with several historical exhibits and the tour is self guided. Texts are in French, but English texts are available at the desk. We visited around lunch time on a day with few visitors and the staff seemed rather uninspired. After our tour we wanted to do the tasting, but apparently no one were able to perform this, so we decided to leave without it which was a disappointment. RPanicher5. Juin, 2024. Good Tour & Wine Tasting Session Even though this museum is quite small I found the audio guide much better than the one in Le Cite Du Vin. The Wine tasting session was also much better than Le Cite Du Vin as it was explained quite well by the resident expert.Entry is covered by Bordeaux City Pass William F2. Juin, 2024. I dont understand the allure. I dont understand the attraction here. Its two 50 yard wine cellar rooms with a nice audio guide of a bunch of small relics about wine. For me, it was so musty and stale, I was sneezing the entire time. There is a wine tasting associated with it, but I opted out since the person pouring was coughing no stop as I waited. Its definitely not friendly for children. Cat15. Mai, 2024. An amazing hidden gem! Worth your time, even if you already think you know wine. You'll learn more. We enjoyed this little museum immensely! Worth the trip. It's a self-guided tour through the cellar with interesting artifacts and information about the history and craftmanship of winemaking in Bordeaux. The staff also gave a very interesting tasting lesson. Highly recommend taking the hour or so to visit this museum.
