The Museum
Our history
The Bordeaux Historia Vini association was created in November 2007 with the purpose of enhancing the heritage and the very special past of the Chartrons district by working on a project for a museum dedicated to wine and its trade.
Combining the tradition and the future, the museum aims to be a meeting place of conviviality around wine current affairs thanks to its strong links with the Bordeaux wine producers.
“Passionate about my city and its wine, I wanted to tell the story of a trade that has shaped Bordeaux for centuries and to combine a mythical place with a moment of relaxation and cultural enrichment.”
Grégory Pecastaing, President and Founder of the Museum.
The location
The Chartrons: iconic district of the Port de la Lune, is now the home of the Wine and Trade Museum.
In the building of Louis XV’s royal broker, you will discover three centuries of history and the reputation of the great wines of Bordeaux.
The imposing facade, the vaulted cellars and the cooperage remind of the daily life of the wine merchants of the 19th century.
The museum shop is located in the former cooperage and the permanent collection now replaces the barrels in the semi-subterranean cellars.
This collection of documents, rare bottles, films and winemaking equipment brings several centuries of history back to life.
